A clever, kind, connected Tasmania, well maybe kind… okay, probably not kind either. Forget I said anything.
Just a note about the Tasmanian election. As of 6pm today (Friday Feb 19) it’s pretty much breaking the law in Tasmania to say anything on der interweb without adding your authorisation including name and address. As I am not a complete cretin, I’m not all that keen on publishing my home address on der interweb, so will be leaving the election cartoons in The Merc and not putting them up here until it’s all over. Prints and originals are still available, so contact me in the usual way.
Hopefully this isn’t election comment, but seriously, somebody needs to think this part of the Electoral Act through for next time. These days, posting your stupid opinions on the internet is more like a conversation than publishing, so this sort of stuff is ridiculously intrusive, and while I’m all for putting your name on what you say (large capital letters bottom right hand corner usually) the practicalities need to be thought through.

Seriously, not mucking about this time, it really is the last weekend of the exhibition
Right, this is DEFINITELY the last weekend for the exhibition, so if you haven’t seen it and you want to see it and you miss it, then don’t come whingeing to me like Nick Minchin when high tide starts lapping at his chin and he never learned to dog-paddle, because YOU’VE BEEN TOLD.
We’ll also have the exciting new 2010 Haikudelka calendar for sale at the gallery. Rather limited stock at the moment, so first in gets to know what date it is next year.
Buy The Book
You know those people who always say the exhibition was better than the book? Well, okay, but the book is pretty bloody awesome and you can’t look at the exhibition while you’re on the toilet. Maybe next year.
Anyway, if you want a book or two, and they will make mighty stylish and really cheap Christmas presents, go to the shop.
Ennui Emergency
All that stuff I said about taking down the exhibition has turned a little bit line-in-the-sandy. Turns out the Sidespace Gallery is available for another couple of weeks, so, er, BY POPULAR DEMAND WE’RE STAYING OPEN A BIT LONGER!
Doors will be open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm for the next two weekends (November 21, 22, 28 & 29) so if you haven’t yet experienced the greatest cartooning haiku event of November 2009 in Hobart and/or have nothing to do, please come on down.
This also means the haiku competition will be open a bit longer. We’ve already got some cracking entries, so you’ll have to be good to take out the GRAND PRIZE.
