Careful with that slogan

The Sunday Telegraph 28 August 2011

Politics aside, if I was paying my dues for the HSU, I would be a bit narky about them being used for renting hookers unless a nurse’s uniform were somehow involved, which I suppose isn’t out of the question.

Point of order: if I’m a poopoo head then what are you? (etc)

The Australian 25 August 2011

To the casual observer, the goings on in Question Time these days might seem reminiscent of a bunch of two-year-olds fighting over a shiny toy.

This is a reasonably accurate assessment. As you were.

A substantial problem

The Mercury 23 August 2011

The Gunns pulp mill, if you recall (it was quite a while back) was fast-tracked by a special sitting of parliament because the RPDC was slowing it down – costing Gunns a million dollars a day, apparently.

A while later the mill (or “white whale” as I’ve come to think of it – well the saga’s about as long as Moby Dick) had its permit extended because everyone needed a bit of a lie down while they recovered from all that trouble the RPDC had caused with its unreasonable demands for details on the project.

Now the extension’s about to run out unless it can be shown that work has “substantially commenced. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to another special sitting of parliament to redefine the word “substantial”.
