My theory on the monarchy in Australia is that everyone thinks that there are people who want Australia to be a monarchy, but in fact nobody actually does want Australia to be a monarchy. I base this on the premise that it is inconceivable that anyone could actually want Australia to be a monarchy. Eventually we’ll realise that it was all just a few people taking the piss, and immediately become a republic.
If people think that this is ruining all the monarchists’ fun, then bear in mind that I do not concede that any monarchists exist.
It is quite a poor theory I’ll admit (the bucket helps a bit) but if you don’t like it, feel free to stick your head in a bucket.
I’d like one of those buckets, please.
Personally I find it inconceivable that people would voluntarily adopt a method to appoint a head of state by popular vote where we’d end up with folks like the Bushes in charge. At least with Monarchies you can see the morons from years off and plan accordingly ;)
We keep using that word. I do not think it means what we think it means.
I started using one of those bucket thingies during the Charlie/Di wedding/life/death/mourning and I still haven’t taken it off!

My theory is that almost no-one wants a monarchy, and that the rodent screwed us over by making us choose between stupid and divisive options.
Should have been:
1. Want monarchy?
2. Which preferred model?
IM-not-so-HO.
I think we can safely upgrade that from “rodent theory” to “rodent law”. Some of the little fella’s best work.
Ahhh so that’s what Ned was up too .
