The Australian Media Section 5 March 2012

People are angry at the media. The government is angry at the media. This is completely reasonable. The media is extremely annoying, in fact there has even almost been science about it. Some might even say being annoying is the whole point, but you should never listen to cartoonists.

Completely justified rage, good intentions and faster-than-light neutrinos aside for a moment, the one thing you can be absolutely sure of is that Einstein knew his stuff and there is no such thing as a privileged observer. What media regulation boils down to in the end is which inmates you trust most to run the asylum. The answer of course being “none of them”, which everybody kind of knows, but isn’t really practical, because then you’ve just got the internet, which is the big farty elephant in the whole argument room anyway.
