  1. The government has no power over businesses to dictate how much profit they make, that would be frowned upon. We rely on businesses to contain their thirst for money and power, they don’t always meet moral expectations.

  2. Wayne Swan has no legal control over the banks, indeed if a Labor Treasurer began telling businesses what profit margin they could make there would be an outcry of “SOCIALISM” from all and sundry.
